Snow White Nut Cake - cooking recipe

3 c. sifted cake flour
1 Tbsp. baking powder
3/4 c. vegetable shortening
1/2 almond flavoring
1 c. chopped hickory nuts
1/2 tsp. salt
1 3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. milk
6 egg whites, beaten stiff
Preparation

Sift flour, salt and baking powder together 6 times.
Cream sugar, shortening, vanilla and almond flavoring.
Add milk alternately with flour mixture to creamed mixture.
Fold in hickory nuts, then egg whites.
Bake in two greased and floured 9-inch cake pans for 25 to 30 minutes at 375\u00b0.
