Crab Apple Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. apples
    6 to 8 c. sugar
    3 c. water
    4 c. vinegar
    1 stick cinnamon
    1 Tbsp. crushed ginger
    1 Tbsp. whole allspice
    1/2 Tbsp. whole cloves
Preparation
    Cook ingredients, except for apples.
    Add apples and let simmer until apples are tender.
    Let stand a couple of hours and pack apples in jars.
    Heat juice and pour over apples.
