Ingredients

2/3 c. shortening
2/3 c. butter or margarine, softened
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 1/4 c. chopped nuts
2 (6 oz. each) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate pieces
Preparation

Heat oven to 375\u00b0.
Mix thoroughly the shortening, butter, sugars, eggs and vanilla. Stir in remaining ingredients.
Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2-inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown.
Cool slightly before removing from baking sheet.
Makes about 7 dozen.
