Ingredients

3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. molasses
1 egg, beaten
2 c. flour
2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation

Melt shortening; cool.
Add sugar, molasses and egg.
Beat well.
Mix dry ingredients together; add to mixture.
Mix well. Chill very well.
Roll into 1-inch balls; roll in sugar.
Place 2-inches apart.
Bake 8 minutes at 375\u00b0.
