Autumn Soup - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 lb. ground beef
2 to 3 Tbsp. cooking fat or oil
1 c. chopped onions
4 c. hot water
1 c. cubed raw carrots
1 c. cubed raw potatoes
2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/2 Tbsp. meat extract
1 bay leaf
1/4 tsp. dried leaf basil
6 whole or canned tomatoes
Preparation

In soup kettle over medium heat, brown beef slowly.
Add onions and cook 5 minutes.
Loosen meat from bottom of pan.
Add water, carrots, potatoes, salt, pepper, meat extract, bay leaf and basil.
Bring to boil.
Reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes.
Add tomatoes and simmer 10 minutes longer.
Makes 6 servings.
