Portuguese Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. stew meat, cut in bite size pieces
    2 carrots, diced
    4 stalks celery, chopped
    2 round onions, diced
    4 medium potatoes, diced
    1 medium head cabbage, sliced 1/2 inch thick
    1 can kidney beans
    1 can cut string beans
    1/2 c. washed rice
    1 can corn (small corn on-the-cob; optional)
    1 can stewed tomatoes
    1 can tomato sauce
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Brown stew meat; add water with onions, carrots, stewed tomatoes, potatoes, beans, string beans and corn.
    Add salt and pepper to taste; boil over medium flame for 1 hour, then add rice, cabbage and tomato sauce.
    Simmer on low flame about 20 minutes.
