Country Pea Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (1 lb.) pkg. split green peas
    8 c. water
    4 c. canned tomato juice
    1 ham bone or ham hock
    1 1/2 c. diced potato
    1 c. diced celery
    1 c. diced onion
    1 c. diced carrot
    1 bay leaf
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 c. ground cooked ham *
    1 egg
    2 Tbsp. chopped parsley
    2 Tbsp. flour
Preparation
    Combine peas, water, tomato juice, ham bone or hock, potato, celery, onion, carrot, bay leaf, salt and pepper in large kettle; bring to boiling, lower heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, 1 1/2 hours or until peas are mushy-tender.
