Cracklin' Pepper Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 1/2 c. milk
3 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. salt
1 stick margarine
3/4 c. warm water (105~ to 115~)
2 pkg. active dry yeast
1 egg
7 to 7 1/2 c. unsifted flour
1 lb. salt pork, diced
1/2 tsp. black pepper
Preparation

Scald milk; stir in sugar, salt and margarine; cool to lukewarm.
Pour warm water into large, warm bowl.
Add yeast, stirring until dissolved.
Add lukewarm milk mixture, egg and 3 cups flour; beat until smooth.
Add enough additional flour to form a stiff dough.
Turn out onto lightly floured board; knead until smooth and elastic (8 to 10 minutes).
Place in a greased bowl, turning to grease top.
Cover; let rise in warm place until doubled in bulk (about 1 hour).
