Aunt Pearl'S Blackberry Jam Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. flour
    1 tsp. ground cloves
    1 tsp. allspice
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    2 large apples, finely chopped (I like Granny Smith)
    8 oz. finely chopped dates
    1 c. real butter
    2 c. sugar
    4 eggs
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 c. milk
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 c. blackberry jam
    2 c. chopped nuts (pecans, walnuts or black walnuts)
Preparation
    Sift together flour, cloves, allspice and cinnamon.
    Add apples, dates and nuts.
    Stir, coating fruit with flour mixture. Set aside.
    Blend butter and sugar until creamy.
    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well.
    Set aside.
    Dissolve baking powder in milk. Dissolve soda in buttermilk.
    Add flour mixture, milk, buttermilk and jam alternately to egg mixture.
    Beat two minutes.
    Pour batter into 4 greased and floured 8 or 9-inch cake pans.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for 35 to 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.
    Cool and ice with date frosting.
