24 Hour Salad - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 small head lettuce, chopped
1 c. celery, chopped
1 c. onion, chopped
1 small box frozen peas (don't thaw)
1 small can water chestnuts, sliced
1 c. broccoli, chopped (if desired)
1 c. mayonnaise
1 c. salad dressing
3 Tbsp. sugar
salt and pepper to taste
1 large tomato, chopped
1/2 lb. bacon, browned and crumbled
1/2 c. sharp shredded cheese
Preparation

Combine
the lettuce, celery, onion, peas, water chestnuts and broccoli.\tCover
with
1\tcup
mayonnaise and 1 cup salad dressing
and
the\tsugar.\tMix
with mayonnaise.
Use 2 cups mayonnaise\tor
salad dressing, mix sugar in and salt and pepper to\ttaste.\tLayer
lettuce on bottom of dish; spread to edge of dish.
Add\tthe
chopped tomato over mayonnaise, then add the crumbled
bacon.
Add
the\tshredded
cheese over the bacon. Cover; let set for 24 hours.
Do not mix to serve.
