Memphis Corn Fritters - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 egg
    1/3 c. milk
    1 Tbsp. melted shortening
    1 (12 oz.) can drained whole kernel corn
    shortening for frying
Preparation
    Sift the flour; measure and resift with the baking powder, salt and sugar.
    Beat egg, then add milk and shortening, then flour mixture and beat until smooth.
    Fold in corn and let stand 5 to 10 minutes while you heat shortening.
    Fry at 360\u00b0 and serve hot.
