Blitz Torte - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
4 egg yolks
1 tsp. vanilla
3 Tbsp. milk
1 c. sifted cake flour
1 tsp. baking powder
6 egg whites (reserve 2 yolks for filling)
3/4 c. sugar
1 Tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. blanched almonds (optional)
Preparation

Cream shortening; beat in sugar and salt.
Add beaten egg yolks, vanilla, milk and flour sifted with baking powder.
Spread mixture in two round layer cake pans, greased (this will barely cover bottom of pans).
Beat egg whites until very light; add 3/4 cup sugar gradually.
Spread meringue over batter in both pans. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
Sprinkle almonds on top.
Bake in 350\u00b0 oven about 30 minutes.
Let cool.
Put together with Cream Filling.
Makes 1 (9-inch) layer cake.
