Hamburger-Vegetable Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. ground beef
    1 c. onion, diced
    1 c. potatoes, diced
    1 c. carrots, sliced
    1 c. celery, cut
    4 c. cooked tomatoes
    1/4 c. uncooked rice
    3 c. water
    3 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. basil
    1/4 tsp. thyme
    1 bay leaf
Preparation
    Brown the ground beef and onion in a small amount of cooking oil.
    When lightly browned, drain off excess fat.
    Combine with the remaining ingredients in a large kettle.
    Simmer, covered, for 1 hour.
