Apricot Nut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. boiling water
    1/2 c. dried apricots, chopped
    1/2 c. pitted dates, chopped
    1/4 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 egg, well beaten
    2 1/2 c. sifted flour
    2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 c. chopped walnuts or pecans
Preparation
    Pour boiling water over apricots and dates.
    Add shortening, sugar and salt; cool.
    Add egg, flour, baking powder and nuts; mix well.
    Turn into greased 9 x 5-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 1/4 hours (75 minutes).
