Happy Day Cake Or "Best Two Egg Cake" - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 eggs
    2 1/4 c. flour
    2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. plus 2 Tbsp. milk
Preparation
    Stir shortening to soften.
    Gradually add sugar and cream thoroughly.
    Add vanilla.
    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.
    Sift flour with baking powder and salt; add to cream mixture alternately with milk, beating after each addition.
    Bake in two 9 x 1 1/2-inch round pans in moderate oven (375\u00b0) for about 23 minutes.
