Corn Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sifted flour
    1 c. yellow cornmeal
    3/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. sugar
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1 c. plus 2 Tbsp. milk
    1 egg
    4 Tbsp. cooking oil or soft shortening
Preparation
    Sift together in a large bowl the flour, cornmeal, salt, sugar and baking powder.
    Add the milk and egg. Beat for 1 minute, then add the cooking oil or soft shortening.
    Beat for 1 more minute. Place 2 teaspoons oil in an 8-inch cake pan.
    Pour in batter.
    Oil will rise, greasing pan. Bake in a 375\u00b0 oven for 25 minutes. Split and toast any left.
