High-Note Tenor Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. cornmeal
    1/2 c. sifted flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 small onion, finely chopped
    1 egg, beaten
Preparation
    Sift dry ingredients together into bowl; mix in onion.
    Add egg and milk; stir until just mixed.
    Drop from teaspoon, several at a time, into deep, hot fat.
    Cook until golden brown; drain on absorbent paper.
    Serve hot.
    Yields 2 dozen.
