Holiday Double Onion Stuffing - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. bacon, chopped
    1 apple, coarsely chopped
    1 c. celery, minced
    1 (8 oz.) pkg. cornbread stuffing
    2 cans Durkee onions (2.8 oz.)
    1/2 c. sliced almonds
    1 can chicken broth
    3/4 c. water
    2 eggs, lightly beaten
    1/2 tsp. thyme
Preparation
    In large skillet, brown bacon lightly.
    Drain off all but 2 tablespoons drippings.
    Add apples and celery; cook until tender. Remove from heat.
    Add onions, stuffing and almonds and mix well. Mix eggs, water, thyme and broth.
    Pour over stuffing and mix well.
    Spoon into 8 x 12-inch greased pan or baking dish.
    Cover and bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes, then add Durkee onions to top of stuffing.
    Bake 5 minutes and serve.
    Makes 8 to 10 servings.
