Moravian Ginger Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/3 c. molasses
    1/4 c. shortening
    2 Tbsp. brown sugar
    1 1/4 c. flour
    1/4 tsp. baking powder
    dash of nutmeg
    dash of allspice
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. soda
    1/4 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. ginger
    1/4 tsp. cloves
Preparation
    Mix molasses, shortening and sugar thoroughly.
    Measure flour by dipping method or by sifting.
    Stir together remaining ingredients; blend in.
    Work with hands until well blended. Cover; chill about 4 hours.
    (Thorough chilling is needed to make dough hold together.)
    Heat oven to 375\u00b0.
    Roll dough out paper thin, a little at a time.
    Cut in desired shapes.
    Place on ungreased baking sheet.
    Bake 8 minutes or until lightly browned. Frost, if desired.
    Makes about 5 dozen cookies.
