Ingredients

6 medium onions, sliced thin
1 tsp. sugar
dash of nutmeg
7 c. strong beef bouillon
grated Swiss cheese
grated Parmesan cheese
6 Tbsp. butter
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. sherry
6 slices (thick) French bread
Preparation

Saute onion in butter until soft (golden brown).
Add sugar, salt and nutmeg and toss well.
Cook down slowly (do not let onions get too dark).
Add hot bouillon and bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
Add sherry.
Ladle into individual crocks (6); top with a piece of bread.
Add cheese on top.
Cook in preheated 300\u00b0 oven for 10 minutes or until cheese is melted.
