Potluck Potato Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. frozen hash browns
    1/2 c. melted butter or margarine
    salt and pepper
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    1 pt. sour cream
    1 (10 1/2 oz.) can cream of chicken soup (undiluted)
    10 oz. grated sharp Cheddar cheese
    2 c. crushed cornflakes
    1/4 c. melted butter
Preparation
    Defrost hash browns and combine in a large mixing bowl with 1/2 cup of melted butter; season with salt and pepper.
    Add chopped onion, cream of chicken soup, sour cream and grated cheese; mix thoroughly.
    Pour into buttered 3-quart casserole. Mix 1/4 cup melted butter with cornflake crumbs and sprinkle over potato mixture.
    Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for 45 minutes.
