Maisie'S Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. molasses
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. ginger
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. melted shortening
    2 eggs, well beaten
    2 tsp. baking soda
    1 c. boiling water
    2 1/2 c. flour
Preparation
    Stir sugar, molasses, spices and salt together.
    Add melted shortening and eggs; beat well.
    Add soda to boiling water.
    Add alternately with flour to creamed mixture.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 in a well-greased pan.
    Cook for 35 to 40 minutes, or until browned and springy to touch.
