Date And Nut Caramel Roll - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    1 1/2 c. chopped dates
    1 c. condensed milk
    2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Combine sugar and milk in heavy saucepan.
    Boil over medium heat to soft ball stage (soft ball is formed by dropping 1/2 teaspoon of mixture into a cup of cold water).
    Add dates and continue cooking to soft ball stage again.
    Cool slightly and add chopped nuts.
    Turn onto buttered pan or platter; knead until creamy and stiff.
    Form into 4 or more rolls.
    Wrap rolls and place in refrigerator.
