Green Tomato Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 lb. green tomatoes
    2 c. lime
    4 gal. water
    1 qt. vinegar
    1 Tbsp. mixed pickling spices
    4 c. sugar
    salt to taste
Preparation
    Soak tomatoes 24 hours in lime solution.
    Rinse well at least 4 times.
    Combine vinegar, spices, sugar, and salt;
    add tomatoes and cook for 30 minutes.
    Remove tomatoes from the mixture. Continue to cook the mixture until it
    becomes a thick syrup. Pack tomatoes into sterilized jar;
    pour hot syrup over and seal immediately.
