Raisin Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. water
    2 c. raisins
    1 c. shortening
    1 3/4 c. sugar
    2 eggs, beaten
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1/2 c. nuts, chopped
Preparation
    Combine raisins and water in saucepan and bring to a boil for 3 minutes.
    Let cool (do not drain), cream sugar and shortening together.
    Add eggs and vanilla; combine dry ingredients.
    Add to creamed mixture and blend thoroughly.
    Stir in nuts and raisins. Drop by teaspoonful 2-inches apart on greased cookie sheets.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 12 to 14 minutes.
