Cucumber Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 peck or 50 (5 to 6-inch) cucumbers
    2 heaping c. salt
    2 heaping tsp. fine alum
    5 c. cider vinegar
    10 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. mixed spices
Preparation
    First
    Day:
    Wash
    cucumbers,
    put
    in large container. Mix salt in a gallon of boiling water and pour over cucumbers. Let stand 24 hours in brine.
