Molasses Layer Cake - cooking recipe

1 1/4 c. molasses
1/2 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. shortening
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
flour (self-rising)
prepared apples
Preparation

Put molasses on stove to warm, then stir in soda and take off stove.
The molasses will turn yellow.
Beat eggs lightly. Now in molasses, stir in all ingredients (except apple) and enough flour to make dough like biscuit dough.
Grease cake pan. Roll out or pat in a thin layer.
Bake at 350\u00b0 until light brown.
Between layers place apples.
