Dutch Family Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 sq. bitter chocolate
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. applesauce
    2 eggs, well beaten
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. chopped pecans
    1 c. sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Melt chocolate; blend with melted shortening.
    Cool; stir in sugar, eggs, applesauce, vanilla and pecans.
    Sift baking powder, baking soda and salt with flour.
    Stir in chocolate mixture and bake in greased pan at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
