Lynn Wear'S Winter Apple Conserve - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 tart apples
    1 c. raisins
    3 c. sugar
    1/2 c. candied ginger
    1/4 c. candied orange peel
    3/4 c. orange juice
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. ginger
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. walnuts
Preparation
    Wash, core and chop apples.
    Chop raisins, orange peel and ginger.
    Add rest of ingredients, except walnuts.
    Start at low heat and when sugar is dissolved, let mix boil gently about 30 minutes.
    Stir often.
    Add walnuts.
    Pour into 1/2-pint canning jars.
    Seal and process 15 minutes in water bath.
    Serve as condiment or use as mincemeat by adding butter and brandy for tarts, pies or pudding.
    Makes about 5 half pints.
