Salisbury Steak - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. salad oil
    3 Tbsp. soy sauce
    water
    1 1/2 lb. ground beef
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    5 medium onions, sliced
    1/2 tsp. sugar
    1 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Saute onions in oil for 2 minutes.
    Add soy sauce, sugar and 1 1/2 cups water; heat to boiling.
    Simmer, uncovered 15 minutes or until onions are tender.
    Mix cornstarch with 1/4 cup water. Gradually stir into onion mixture.
    Cook, stirring constantly, until sauce is thickened.
    Keep warm.
    Mix ground beef and salt and pepper.
    Shape into four 1-inch thick patties.
    Place patties on rack in broiling pan; broil 4 minutes on each side or until done.
    Place patties in casserole dish and spoon onion mixture on top and keep warm in oven until ready to serve.
