Coffee Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 1/2 c. flour
2 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. shortening
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2 well beaten eggs
1 c. sour milk* or 1 c. water
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
nuts (optional)
Preparation

Combine first 4 ingredients.
Remove 1/2 cup of mixture to sprinkle on top of cake before baking.
Add the baking powder, soda, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and nutmeg to remaining mixture.
Add eggs and sour milk; beat until smooth.
Pour into 2 (8-inch) greased cake pans.
