Basic Tomato Meat Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. olive oil
    1/2 c. (1 medium) chopped onion
    1/2 lb. ground chuck
    7 c. (2 to 2 1/2 cans) tomatoes, sieved
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 bay leaf
    1 tsp. sweet basil or oregano
    3/4 c. (6 oz. can) tomato sauce
Preparation
    Heat olive oil in saucepot.
    Add onion and cook until lightly browned.
    Add and brown ground chuck.
    Add slowly, a mixture of tomatoes, salt, bay leaf and sweet basil or oregano.
    Cover saucepot and simmer over very low heat about 2 1/2 hours.
    Add tomato sauce.
