Freezer Apple Pie Filling - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 lb. tart apples
    2 c. sugar
    1/4 c. flour
    1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    2 Tbsp. lemon juice
Preparation
    Peel, slice and core apples.
    Combine sugar, flour and spices. Add sliced apples and toss gently.
    Let stand 30 minutes until the juice begins to flow.
    Stir in lemon juice; cook over low heat until it begins to thicken.
    The apples should not be fully cooked.
    Spoon into 6 to 8-pint freezer containers.
    Plan on a quart to make a 9-inch pie and follow the oven time and temperature as for fresh apple pie.
    I bake mine at 375\u00b0 for 50 to 55 minutes.
    I also top with a crumb topping.
