"Cold Oven" Butternut Flavoring Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 sticks margarine
1/2 c. Crisco
3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
5 large eggs
1 c. milk
3 c. flour
1 Tbsp. plus 2 tsp. vanilla-butternut flavoring
1/2 to 1 c. broken nuts
1/2 to 1 c. halved maraschino cherries
Preparation

Cream the shortening, margarine, sugar and salt well.
Add eggs, one at a time.
Add flavoring.
Beat well.
Add flour and milk alternately, ending with flour.
Fold in nuts and cherries by hand.
Bake in greased and floured tube pan for 1 3/4 hours at 325\u00b0.
Start in cold oven.
Do not open oven door while baking. Remove from pan immediately.
Invert on wire rack to cool.
