Cherry Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 lb. butter
    4 eggs
    2 c. sifted flour
    1 Tbsp. vanilla
    1 can cherry pie filling
Preparation
    Cream butter; add sugar, creaming at medium speed until light and fluffy.
    Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each.
    At low speed, add flour and vanilla.
    Pour into well-greased 15 x 10-inch jelly roll pan with sides.
    Spread batter evenly.
    Mark off into 48 squares.
    Place one/two cherries with a little filling into middle of each square.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 to 50 minutes. Cut while warm.
    When cool, sift confectioners sugar over top.
