Granny'S Home-Style Fried Okra - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 c. fresh, tender, sliced okra (choose pods 3 to 4-inches long), slice 1/4-inch thick pieces
4 or 5 green onions, round sliced
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. yellow cornmeal
1/2 c. melted shortening (in a skillet)
Preparation

Place all ingredients in a large bowl and mix; toss with fingers until okra is well coated. Pour into the skillet with the melted shortening and cook, covered, over medium heat until okra is tender and begins to brown. Remove skillet from heat; let cover remain and allow to steam for 10 to 15 minutes before serving. Serves 6 to 8.
