First Birthday Cupcakes - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 2/3 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. cocoa
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 eggs
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. buttermilk or sour milk
1 tsp. vanilla
One-Bowl Buttercream Frosting
Preparation

Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
Line muffin cups with paper baking cups. In large mixer bowl, stir together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, salt and baking powder.
Add eggs, shortening, buttermilk and vanilla.
Beat on low speed of electric mixer 1 minute, scraping bowl occasionally.
Then, beat on high speed for 3 minutes.
Fill muffin cups 1/2 full with batter.
Bake 18 to 20 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
Remove from pan to wire rack.
Cool.
Frost with One-Bowl Buttercream Frosting. Garnish as desired.
Yields about 2 1/2 dozen cupcakes.
