Nanna'S Red Hot Salad - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 c. thick unsweetened applesauce
1/3 c. red hot candy
2 c. hot water
2 pkg. lemon gelatin
2 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 c. mayonnaise
1 c. chopped celery
1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation

Cook applesauce until thick.
Dissolve red hots in hot water. Add gelatin and stir to dissolve.
Add applesauce.
Pour half into mold or 2-quart casserole.
Chill until firm.
Blend cream cheese and mayonnaise; stir in celery and nuts.
Spread over gelatin and chill.
Pour remaining applesauce mixture over cream cheese mixture.
Chill until firm.
Cut into squares and serve on lettuce leaf with mayonnaise, if desired.
