Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. sliced cucumbers, slice thin
    6 medium white onions, sliced
    2 green peppers
    3 cloves garlic
    1/3 c. salt (added to cucumbers, canning and pickling salt)
    5 c. sugar
    3 c. vinegar
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
Preparation
    Combine cucumbers, onions, peppers and garlic.
    Add salt. Cover with cracked ice and let stand for 3 hours.
    Drain well. Combine sugar, vinegar and spices.
    Bring to a boil.
    Add cucumbers, peppers and onions.
    Bring back to a boil.
    Put in jars and seal.
    Makes 8 pints.
