Cheeseburger Loaf - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. ground chuck
    1 (5 1/3 oz.) can evaporated milk
    1/2 c. cracker crumbs
    1 c. (4 oz.) shredded American cheese
    1 egg, beaten
    1/4 c. chopped onion
    1/4 c. chopped green pepper
    3/4 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1/4 tsp. dried basil leaves
    2 slices American cheese
Preparation
    Combine all
    ingredients,
    except
    cheese
    slices
    in a large mixing
    bowl and mix lightly.
    Place mixture in an 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x
    2
    5/8-inch
    loaf pan. Shape into a loaf.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 1 hour.
    Remove loaf from oven. Cut each cheese slice into 2 triangles
    and
    arrange
    overlapping
    on
    top of loaf. Return meat loaf to oven 2 minutes or until cheese melts.
    Let stand 10 minutes before slicing.
    Yields 6 to 8 servings.
