Margaret'S Pound Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 c. sugar
1 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. butter flavored vegetable shortening
5 eggs
3 c. plain flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/4 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. lemon flavor
Preparation

Cream sugar, butter and shortening together until smooth.
Add eggs.
Sift flour, baking powder and salt.
Add to creamed mixture, blending just until dry ingredients are moistened.
Add milk, vanilla and lemon flavoring.
Pour batter into greased and floured 10-inch tube pan.
Tap pan on flat surface several times to remove air bubbles from batter.
Bake at 325\u00b0 for 15 minutes.
Reduce oven temperature to 275\u00b0 and bake for 2 to 3 hours or until wooden pick inserted comes out clean.
Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then remove and cool on wire racks.
Yields 16 servings.
