Mincemeat Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. dry mincemeat
    1 c. water
    3/4 c. shortening
    3/4 c. sugar
    2 c. quick cooking oats
    1 1/2 c. sifted flour
    3/4 tsp. salt
    1/3 c. molasses
Preparation
    Cook mincemeat in boiling water for 3 minutes.
    Cool.
    Cream shortening; add sugar.
    Gradually beat in molasses; add dry ingredients and mix well.
    Spread half the oatmeal mixture over greased shallow pan (9 x 9-inches).
    Press mixture down firmly. Spread mincemeat filling over oatmeal mixture.
    Spread remaining half of oatmeal mixture over mincemeat.
    Press down firmly with fingers.
    Bake for 30
    minutes in 350\u00b0 oven.
    Cool and cut in squares.
    Makes 16 pieces.
