Thomas Jefferson'S Macaroni And Cheese - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 (1/2 lb.) c. elbow macaroni
    1/4 c. butter
    1/4 c. flour
    2 1/2 c. milk
    dash of salt
    8 oz. grated sharp Cheddar cheese
    2 oz. ham, finely minced (optional)
Preparation
    Cook macaroni according to package directions; rinse and drain thoroughly.
    Meanwhile, melt butter in saucepan.
    Stir in flour and blend well over low heat.
    Stir in milk slowly.
    Bring to boil, stirring constantly.
    Cook 1 minute.
    Add 1 3/4 cups grated cheese and stir to blend.
    Add ham bits and macaroni.
    Pour into well-buttered 2-quart casserole.
    Top with remaining cheese.
    Bake at 400\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes or until top is golden brown.
