Red Cabbage - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 small onion, chopped
    2 Tbsp. bacon fat
    1/4 c. cider vinegar
    1/2 c. brown sugar
    1/2 tsp. caraway seed
    1/2 c. water
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    3 or 4 c. shredded red cabbage
    2 medium apples, peeled and cubed
Preparation
    Saute onion in fat in saucepan until transparent.
    Add sugar, vinegar, caraway seed, water, salt and pepper.
    Mix well.
    Add cabbage and apples.
    Steam, tightly covered, 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
