Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 gal. cucumbers (3 to 5-inch length)
    14 small white onions
    4 large green peppers
    3/4 c. salt
    10 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. turmeric
    1 tsp. ground cloves
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1/4 c. mustard seed
    2 1/2 qt. vinegar
Preparation
    Slice cucumbers into 1/8-inch slices without paring.
    Slice the onions likewise.
    Cut green peppers into fine bits.
    Mix the salt through the combined cucumbers, onions and green peppers. Place a weighted lid on them and let stand 3 hours.
    Drain and set aside.
