Demon Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 sq. baking chocolate
3 1/4 c. granulated sugar
3 c. sifted cake flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 egg whites
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 pinch cream of tartar
1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
5 eggs, separated
1 c. water
Preparation

Melt the chocolate over simmering water.
Cream together the butter and 2
1/4 cups sugar.
Add the melted chocolate to this mixture.
Sift the flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder together and add alternately with buttermilk.
Add well beaten egg yolks and stiffly beaten
egg
whites
to
mixture. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla.
Pour the
batter
into three well-greased and floured 9-inch cake pans.
Bake at\t350\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes.
