Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. stew beef, cut into 1-inch cubes
    1 1/2 c. chopped onions
    1 (10.5 oz.) can beef broth
    1 clove garlic
    2 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. sweet basil
    1/2 c. chopped celery
    3 medium potatoes, diced
    1/4 c. oil
    1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes, cut up (I use about a qt.)
    2 Tbsp. parsley flakes
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 bay leaf
    6 chopped carrots
    cornstarch
Preparation
    Brown stew beef in the oil in a Dutch oven.
    Add onions, tomatoes, beef broth, celery and spices.
    Cook until meat is tender.
    Add carrots and potatoes; cook until they are tender. Before serving, add enough cornstarch to thicken.
    Serves 8.
