Applesauce Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. sugar
    2 c. sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 1/2 c. unsweetened applesauce
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1 c. chopped raisins or currants
Preparation
    Cream butter until soft and creamy.
    Add sugar and beat until mixture is light and fluffy.
    In another bowl, mix flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda and spices together.
    Add dry ingredients alternately with applesauce to creamed mixture, making 3 or 4 additions, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
    Stir gently and quickly until batter is well blended.
    Do not overmix. Spread in well-greased 8-inch square pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 to 375\u00b0 for 35 to 45 minutes.
    Let cake cool for 15 to 20 minutes before removing from pan.
