Date Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    pinch of salt
    1 (8 oz.) pkg. dates
    2/3 c. flour
    1/4 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 c. nutmeats
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cut dates up and put warm water over them.
    Let stand until you have the rest mixed together.
    Then drain well and throw away the water.
    Add dates to other mixture and bake in a greased and floured 11 x 7 x 1/4-inch pan until done.
    Cool.
    Cut into bars and roll in powdered sugar.
    These require no shortening!
