Orange Candy Slice Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 sticks butter
    4 eggs
    1 tsp. soda
    4 c. flour
    1 lb. orange jelly candy slices, halved
    2 c. mixed nuts, chopped
    2 c. sugar
    1 1/2 c. buttermilk
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 lb. dates, chopped
Preparation
    Cream the butter and sugar.
    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well.
    Add 1 cup buttermilk.
    Beat well.
    Add soda to the other half cup buttermilk.
    Add to mixture.
    Combine dry ingredients. Add orange slices, halved.
    Add dates and nuts.
    Blend well.
    Line tube pan with well-greased brown paper.
    Bake slowly at 275\u00b0 for 2 1/2 hours.
